How to make gingerbread
Gingerbread is delicious; also it
could be given as a present to friends or eaten with a nice cup of tea
You will need
350g plain flour plus extra for
rolling out
1tsp bicarbonate of soda
2tsp ground ginger
1tsp ground cinnamon
125g butter
175g light soft brown sugar
1 free range egg
4tbsp golden syrup
Oven at 180 degrees
To decorate
Silver spoon icing
Mini smarties
Method:
Remember
to wash your hands before you start
1. Gently sieve the flour into a bowl
add the bicarbonate of soda, ginger and cinnamon and stir.
2. Carefully weigh the butter and add to
the mixture. Blend until the mixture looks like breadcrumbs.
3. Next stir continuously while adding
the brown sugar.
4. Lightly beat the egg and golden syrup
together. Add to the mixture and mix together.
5. Then slowly tip the dough onto a
lightly floured surface. Knead briefly, until smooth wrap in clingfilm and
leave in the fridge for 15mins.
6. Precisely roll the dough on a floured
surface and roll out the dough 0.5cm thick.
7. After take your cutter and put it in
the corner of the dough so you don’t have to keep rolling it out.
8. Carefully press out your shapes and
put it on a baking tray with grease paper on to stop it from sticking.
9. Bake for 12-15mins on 180 degrees
10. Finally let it cool for 10mins then
decorate.
Chef’s tip: These gingerbread taste great with silver spoon white icing
and mini smarties
Gingerbread will be a great snack at a children’s party or finger food at
a wedding or they fit perfectly in a child’s lunchbox.
