House in the Forest

WALT: Use different narrative techniques to engage the reader

The events I’m about to relate began a fortnight ago in the middle of a forest in Wales. The single structure was named Drear Forest House.

Gathered there for dinner were the seven members of an extraordinary club called the Good Comrades. Into this unique gathering came Blissa bearing a message for Ralph King her father. In his day a business owner.

King received the envelope casually. When they saw the contents the Good Comrades took it all as a joke but Blissa was right……… this was no laughing matter.

For on the following night Ralph King died menacingly and under the most horrible circumstances. Kings body along with his vintage 1940 Messerschmitt BF 109 was later retrieved from the burnt tree, wrecked from the inside out and unrecognisable to the naked eye.

Despite King’s suspicious death the good comrades continued their dinner, drinking a final toast to King. When in came Camille with a second letter this time for her father Stanley Raebone. In his day a distinguished actor. This time you may be sure there was no laughter. These men were afraid and their fear was justified. It was six days until they found Raebones battered body.

Jess Camil sat upright in an old vintage chaise lounge explaining to Mr Holmes and Dr Watson the interesting events of the past fortnight Holmes listened carefully while loading his barrel like pipe ready to smoke. Holmes strolled around the room purposely. He was a master detective and strolling helps him think. After hearing what Jess said Holmes decided that he and Watson should go to Wales to investigate further.

Grumpily Mr Holmes arrived at Dr Watson’s house at eleven in the morning. They were supposed to be going to Wales but Dr Watson must have overslept. Once Dr Watson was up Mr Holmes caught a tram. “To Wales please” Mr Holmes asked the agitated, half tired tram driver. Half way there Holmes received a phone call. “Your doomed if you investigate the drear forest house case DOOMED!” the voice shrieked then silence.

Josh baleen sat upright in a limited edition crismos lounge chair explaining to Mr Holmes and Dr Watson the extraordinary events of the past fortnight. Holmes listened attentively whilst loading His golden revolver with metal jackets {a very big bullet that explodes on impact}. Holmes walked around mysteriously whilst flicking a coin between his old wrinkled fingers. Meanwhile Dr Watson and Holmes went to the inn for a midnight sleep.

suspiciously Holmes travelled north to the west of Scotland in a vintage Chamberlin s12 from the inn.as the wind blew through his hair like a teenager with a blow drier Holes loaded his special edition wood barrel pipe with fresh farmed bidis {tobacco} with his colleague Dr Watson. When they arrived at the town an aqward man said that the mandreer house was haunted. Holmes wan not scared so he went any way when they arrived they instantly saw the 7 comrades but unluckily for them 1pulled out a fast round pistol and fired a deadly shot.........

“The events I’m about to relate began a fortnight ago in a posh country house on the outskirts of Dublin called Dearton House.

Gathered there for dinner where the ten members of a unique club the Ace of Diamonds .Into this unique gathering came their young main servant Mr Cody Williams with an envelope, addressed to Jack Connors, a retired estate agent .Connors received it casually. When the other nine members saw the message they took the whole thing as a laugh but there servant was right, this was no laughing matter.

For on the following morning ,Jack had crashed his Rolls Royce Phantom into the side of a cliff and him and his car where retrieved 2 days later. By that time the flames that had engulfed the car had extinguished.

Despite the unsuspected death of their friend the Ace of Diamonds still continued there twice weekly gathering. When the Ace of Diamonds had made a final toast to their departed friend .Mr Williams entered with another envelope. This time addressed to Baily king. In his day he was an exquisite actor, and you’d be sure there was no laughter.

Once again the message proved to be a death message, it was 9 days until Kings battered body was recovered” Said Jackson Slade an insurance underwriter as he sat slouched in his refurbished Bergere leather lounge chair. “So Mr Slade what did the envelopes contain?” Asked Holmes curiously. “In the first case 12 PIPS in the other 11 PIPS. ” Replied Slade. “Sounds like murder.” Bellowed Dr Watson. “Not necessarily Watson.”  Sherlock said reloading his Kaywodie barrel pipe with fresh old gold tobacco.

Holmes was an intelligent man with short black hair and brown eyes. He was 6” 3’ and had a keen eye for detail. He wore a black cloak which he only wore in the office.

“Watson I think we’d better get there and investigate.”  Said Sherlock calmly. “Well I best pack my bags.” Watson replied, and with that they exited through the groaning door of the spotless office and down the many flights of steps what spiralled up the tall building. When Sherlock and Watson finally ended their decent and exited the building and entered their vintage 1920’s Bentley 6.5L to embark on their journey to Bristol harbour. Despite the long distance they had to travel in the small time limit, the duo kept very calm about the situation at hand.

In central Bristol, very close to their destination Watson received a mysterious envelop at a petrol station addressed to him.” Whatever could be in here?” exclaimed Watson. Watson opened the large letter casually. Surprisingly, another envelope fell out this time addressed to Sherlock Holmes. “Sherlock, there is a letter addressed for you.” Watson shouted out to Holms whom was refilling the empty fuel tank.” Open it for me will you!” Holmes replied. Watson obeyed Sherlock and opened it, and out came.

SHERLOCK HOLMES

The event I’m about to relate, began a fortnight ago in a dark, gloomy house on a rocky hilltop, in the west coast of Scotland. The singular structure was known as Green Wood House.

Gathered around the table were the 9 members of the Old Boys Group into the unique gathering appeared the maid Mrs Mohoney delivering a message for the retired actor Steve Dailey.

Steve received the parcel curiously. When they saw the contents the Old Boys Group took the whole thing as a laugh, but their maid was right this was no laughing matter!

On the following night Steve died gruesomely and under the most doubtful circumstances. His body along with his vintage watch was later retrieved.

Despite Steve’s suspicious death the Old Boys Group continued their twice weekly gathering in the games room of the decaying old house. As the Old Boys Group gathered around the old fireplace preparing to drink a final toast to their fallen comrade, Mrs Mohoney delivered another envelope this time to Tom Bailey. In his day Tom was one of Ireland’s most famous divers. This time you may be sure there was no laughter. These men were afraid and their fear was justified!

The following day while the sun beamed down, Sherlock Holmes travelled to Scotland on a horse and carriage. As quick as a flash he arrived in Scotland. When Mr Holmes arrived at the house, he spotted an envelope under the door, so he picked it up immediately. The letter was addressed to Sir Ageron Clark a retired police officer. He knocked at the door and standing there was a man dressed all in black, and sitting in his right hand was a sharp knife splatted in blood…..

Tuesday 17th December 2013

The events I’m about to relate happened 17 days ago in a dull old house perched on a rocky hilltop in the west cost of France. The house was known as “Scarce Cliff” house. In the dining room were the 8 members of the retired inventions group gathered here for lunch. Into this unique gathering came in the poorly dressed maid Mrs Monteeth with an unusual envelope addressed to Ralph Edwards.

Ralph received the envelope casually. It contained 7 orange pips the inventions group took it all as a joke however Mrs Monteeth was right this was no laughing matter ! For on the following night Ralph Edwards died horribly and under most suspicious circumstances.

Despite Ralph Edwards suspicious death the inventions group continued there twice a week gathering in the games room of the decaying house. The group gathered around the gigantic fireplace preparing to drink a final toast to their fellow inventor. Mrs Monteeth delivered another envelope this time addressed to Steve Bailey. In his day one of the cleverest people in the west cost of France. Weirdly this contained 6 seeds the next day he died because someone had set him alight.

The next day Mr Patterson was sat upright in his old cushioned chair detailing to Mr Holmes and Dr Watson events that had happened over the last nine days Holmes listened cautiously.

Mr Holmes the famous detective moved around the room in a sophisticated manner examining his equipment which was the latest technology.

The following day Mr Holmes and Dr Watson travelled to the house perched on top the pebbly hilltop in a dark gloomy train as they entered the old rickety house Mr Holmes received a letter that contained 5 orange pips could this mean that our skilled detective  was about to meet his end ?   By M.R
